Here is a short video clip of the camera ship flying.  It is about 8MB to download so it may take just a bit.

Another Test Session and Photo Shoot

Bloged in Flight Log by Ryan Tuesday October 17, 2006

Approximate flight time: 5 minutes
Battery (lipo) used: 1332 mAh’s
Wind: 10 mph

Flew around a little bit just to take some shots of the helicopter flying as well as some shots from the sky. It was a bit overcast so the shots are less than exciting but still had a blast flying. No adjustments made or needed after this flight.

A Little More About our New Aerial Platform

Bloged in Flight Log by Ryan Tuesday October 10, 2006

Well a bit has changed here in an attempt to get the best quality shots for the our business.  As of the beginning of October we are moving to an electric platform in the shape of an E-Raptor.

The New platform is based off of a Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 nitro machine but is heavily modified.  Modifications include:

  • Extended Boom to allow for up to 680mm main blades
  • Tail bracing from a 90 size machine
  • Electric conversion from tppacks.com
  • eCCPM conversion kit from tppacks.com
  • Jazz 55-10-32 ESC
  • NEU 1912 1.5Y (540Kv)
  • FunKey 660mm Semi-Symmetrical Main Blades
  • Futaba PCM main receiver, S9252 main servos, GY401/s9254 tail servo
  • Underslung camera mount from askmanap.com
  • UBEC on both the camera mount and the airframe
  • Thunder Power 10s2p 4000 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery
  • Wireless video downlink

Approximate GVW 14 lbs with a safe usable flight time of approximately 15 minutes continuous per battery pack.
